probably by now you've heard 걱정 a thousand times but there other commonly used words to express worry and concern about something. Recently I've frequently heard 고민. I need to pay more attention to how its used but it seems to be more commonly used in its noun form.

The Future

You may have noticed there are several ways of referring to the future in Korean.

You probably already know 미래 and 앞으로 today I encountered 장래 in lesson 5 of Intermediate College Korean. It seemed somewhat familiar because of the second syllable is the same 한자 as in 미래, i.e 來 {come}. It seems to me that 미래 is more commonly used but that may be because I didn't know 장래 and hence did not pick up on it. At the moment I often 장래를 생각하다.

Familiar face

Looking for the words to say you saw a familiar face?

note the pronunciation. Quite different from what you might be expecting.

낯익다 be familiar 《to》

• 낯익은 얼굴 a familiar face
• 낯익은 광경 a familiar sight
• 어딘지 낯익은 사람이다 I think I remember his face. or His face seems familiar to me.
• 낯익은 얼굴이지만 이름은 모르겠다 I recognize him but don´t know his name.
